USB KEY MEMORY
TECHNOLOGY
by Renaud Bédard

(2007/11/01)
This
if for some people in the music, video, or the publishing
industy and fans not quite in touch with today's technological
reality and soon to coming, now listen good if you don't want to
blow away your money on what will be referred soon as useless outdated
only good for holiday decoration discs, while speaking of DCs or DVDs
of any kind
The
age of moving parts discs is coming at an end sooner than expected,
the music CD industry just found that out earlier then the movie and
the rest of the data storage industry. Today at very cheap prices you
can have USB portable memory key chips with the capacity to store 2
Gigabytes, and if you wait for good sales out of high demand periods,
you can ever find easily 4 Gygabites USBs. Presently this year some 12
Gygabites USBs have been introduces as well, with word from someone I
know in the industry that says in not too long a time you will easily
find 20 and 50 Gigabytes portable USBs. Now one CD-ROM holds 0.700
Gigabytes, and one sided single layer DVD holds 4.7 Gigabytes. As
reference point, 1 Gygabites equals 1000 Megabits. Those USB portable
memory key chips can be very durable, and I know this because I tried
to brake one, the internal memory chip that is, with a pair of tough
visegrip, and I had a very hard time busting it open, only to see
micro circuitry drowns in some harden resin type material. Those USBs
with the size of a small key holder that easily by the dozen in your
pocket, can store any kind of data from Audio MP3 or any other format,
to any video formats, including DVD VOB files, any texts, webpage
work, and any picture format. USBs have no internal battery, the
energy is feud directly from your machine, whether your PC or whatever
media sound Hi-Fi system equipped with a USB connection. Now this is
what is available today, with at least a company guaranty of between 2
to 6 years, not to mention titanium built ones, all which does not
stop anyone from backing up their stuff in new or better USB style
memory chips in the future. Today's IPods fonction with similar memory
chips as digital cameras. This technology will even
replace Computer harddrive discs, and already does
in portable phone/camera/PC combos all in one pocket
versions
These
days CD music stores are shutting down one by one, specially those
that have not got into video DVDs in a big away; but in a not too
distant future, I could very well see music, movie, book, comic book,
magazins, Newspaper or whatever fans not only download legally online,
but also just come up to a machine in a mall or wherever, pay their
purchases from a selection list, and have their USB style memory keys
feed directly only what they want, as easily as getting a softdrink
from a distributing machine, with a larger home memory data bank to
store all your favorites
So before asking your favorite publishers to commit to any
kind of CD or DVD format which is already technologically
outdated today, instead people should ask perhaps for payable
downloads online and in shopping centers; but for me personally good
old quality paper will never be outdates whether reading my favorite
novels or comic book graphic novels
And if I had one recommendation for USB memory chip developer, it
would be to think more dual-chip keys for greater data safety
insurance, with the same data backed up on a
second separate chip in the same memory keys
